As investors, our biggest bottleneck is finding great companies. So once we find a great business, we play the long game. We support our small business owners patiently.

We got to know them about a year before they invested. We hadn’t ever had an investor and it took us a while to get comfortable with the idea. But they helped us plan and fund a new product line and have been a great partner.

I faced a hard choice. I wanted to retire. My senior manager wasn’t really in a position to buy me out. Selling the business would have put everyone else at risk. I was able to bring in a new investor that helped everyone.
